Lateral University Recovery Island - 2 lanes of 58L

Intended for indoor use, this bin has a capacity of 58 liters (15 US gal) per compartment. It is designed and manufactured 100% in Quebec.

MODULAR SYSTEM – The modular design of the University allows it to evolve at the pace of the ongoing recovery program, by adding or grouping subject categories. Each module is completely independent and can be attached to the others.

Each module is front unloading, but the materials are deposited through the openings placed on the top (choice of opening: slotted, round, square). A rubber border around the opening makes the product safer.

MATERIAL – The material of construction is sheet steel with 50% recycled content and is recyclable at the end of its life. The sheet is finished with electrostatic paint (baked paint) for great durability. The bin uses 18 gauge sheet metal, except for the bottom which is 14 gauge. 58 liter (15 US gal) plastic liners are inserted inside each of the compartments. 22″ x 36″ bags can be used inside each of the liners. The liners, which have a lip at the top, are made of plastic with 35% recycled content. Their proper insertion into the compartment is facilitated by two guides attached to the bottom.

DIMENSIONS – The exterior dimensions of a module are 13″ (wide) x 32.09″ (long) x 41.34″ (high).

FRONT DOOR – The opening on the front of each compartment duo is a door, secured with a full-height stainless steel piano hinge. The positioning of the hinge allows the door to open fully.

The door stays closed with magnets, and an optional lock prevents access by unauthorized persons. A recessed handle makes opening the door easy.

CASTERS – 2″ diameter quiet rubber casters make it easy to move the unit, even when loaded with materials.

CLASP (optional) – A clasp is available as an option, and can be installed on all openings.

DISPLAY (optional) – For display, the use of 3M vinyl stickers with a Teflon finish allows for easy change of posters as needed. The glue used is suitable for metal and electrostatic paint, so that it is just difficult enough to remove the stickers (preventing breakage by users), while allowing their removal in the event that they need to be changed.

This type of sticker and glue have proven themselves on bins in the Montreal metro, where passengers may be tempted to tear off the sticker. Experience shows that removal is too difficult, which discourages passengers, but still possible for the team responsible for replacing posters.

Vinyl stickers are coated with Teflon to ensure durability and prevent wear. Vinyl makes the stickers difficult to tear and is easily washable.
